Code 560, NASA GSFC Greenbelt, Maryland
High Data Rate User Phased Array Antenna, Code 567
Description
Flexible Support for Future NASA Science Misisons.
Approach
Facilitate near term transition of NASA high data rate links to Ka-band spectrum allocations; maximize use of planned assets (TDRS-h, i, j.)
Features
27 GHz frequency is allocated for both direct-to-Earth and via-TDRSS modes.
Supports direct-to-Earth data rates of 300 Mbps and higher, depending on ground station used.
Compatible with TDRS-h, i, j at rates of ~5 Mbps.
Distributed MMIC amplifiers allow scaleable design architecture.
Potential Enterprise Benefits
Frequency useable by both Government and commercial providers.
Maximum user flexibility to manage data volume / latency requirements.
No moving parts - increases reliability and platform stability for high resolution imagers.
Product
Engineering demonstration model - March 2000.
Protoflight unit (proposed for NPP bridge mission) available fall 2001
